Food festivals line the streets to celebrate the cultural melting pot of the city. And, if you're looking for a new event to add to your list this summer, there's a new Caribbean food festival coming to Toronto this weekend.
Taste the Caribbean will be making its debut this weekend to take over Eglinton Avenue West.
The food festival will transform Little Jamaica into a lively market packed with live performances, music, activities and a ton of food.
Mosey through the festival and check out nearly 30 local vendors cooking up some of their best Caribbean dishes.
If you're feeling a bit competitive and love plantain, sign up for the plantain eating competition and try to eat as many as you can to be crowned the winner.
Attendance is free but registration is required: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/taste-the-caribbean-food-festival-july-23-24-2022-tickets-357790520077

In keeping with Toronto’s summer vibe of mounting the biggest events, Little Manila along Bathurst and Wilson in North York will play host to a much-awaited Filipino Street Festival, FUN PHILIPPINES! Organized by the Philippine Legacy and Cultural Alliance (PLACA), the non-profit organization that mounted the highly successful Taste of Manila in 2019, will celebrate 2022 with food, music, and culture in an all-embracing way.
Colourful and vibrant parades will make their way on Saturday and Sunday showcasing Philippine regional festivals that even the visitors can participate in.
This year promises a more fun and most meaningful experience, as it provides significant attention to the unique flavours, history and culture of each Philippine region and the country’s 3 major island groups. With the 1 km stretch of Bathurst St. lined with food and craft vendors, lively street activities and eye-catching Filipino cultural installations, the street festival will be a summer to remember!
FUN PHILIPPINES will continue to partner with TFC, The Filipino Channel, as its exclusive Media and Entertainment partner.
Reconnecting after the pandemic is paramount to the organizers’ minds to ensure that communities will find reason to engage, enjoy outdoor activities with friends and family. It will be an exciting celebration of Filipino culture and community this July!
